Dr. Sean Moghadam is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon providing oral surgery at Kids Dental Castle & Orthodontics. He reviews your concerns, examination findings and appropriate imaging to recommend a treatment plan and explain your anesthesia options.
Oral Surgery Procedures We Offer
- Wisdom Teeth Removal: Wisdom teeth may need treatment when they cause pain, infection, decay, or damage to nearby teeth and tissues. Others can be monitored. Your evaluation helps determine which teeth need attention and whether removal is appropriate.
- Baby & Permanent Tooth Extractions: An extraction may be recommended when a tooth cannot be predictably restored, has significant infection, or needs to be removed as part of an orthodontic treatment plan. We explain why removal is recommended and coordinate any necessary follow-up care with your dentist or orthodontist.
- Exposure & Bonding of Impacted Teeth: When a permanent tooth remains trapped beneath the gum, surgical exposure and placement of an orthodontic attachment may help your orthodontist guide it into position. We coordinate the surgical and orthodontic steps of treatment.
- Frenectomy Evaluation & Treatment: A restrictive lip or tongue attachment may affect oral function in some patients. We evaluate the attachment and symptoms before recommending whether a release or another approach is appropriate.
- Infection, Abscess & Soft-Tissue Care: We evaluate dental infections, abscesses, and unusual soft-tissue changes. Depending on the findings, treatment may include drainage, extraction, a biopsy, or referral for additional care.

Sedation Options for Oral Surgery
Every patient is unique. We tailor the level of relaxation to age, medical history, and procedure:
- Nitrous oxide (laughing gas) – light, quick to wear off
- IV sedation – deeper relaxation with continuous monitoring
Safety first: Thorough medical review, dose precision, and continuous monitoring are standard.
Dr. Sean Moghadam administers IV anesthesia for suitable patients in our office. Patients who are not medically suitable for in-office IV anesthesia are referred to Loma Linda University Hospital for treatment.

We accept Medi-Cal Dental and most major PPO dental plans. For patients enrolled in IEHP Medi-Cal, dental benefits are provided through Medi-Cal Dental. Our team checks eligibility, benefits and any required authorization, and explains estimated patient costs before treatment. Coverage depends on your individual plan.
